It’s All About Jesus: But What Does That Mean?

Recently, I had two important discussions on the meaning of the phrase “It’s All About Jesus.” In my opinion, they are the best exchanges I’ve had all year on the topic.

The most recent is a discussion I had with NorthWestern Media. You can listen to it here or download it on Apple Podcasts.

The other is a discussion I had with Christian Books. Click here to listen to it or download it on Apple Podcasts.

Excellent conversation. I love your point that God the Father dwelled in Jesus. If you see Jesus, you see the God/the Father. The difference between imitation and implantation is a wonderful insight. I think one of the important aspects of Jesus’s supremacy is forgiveness. On the cross, he stops the human cycle of violence to show us God’s universal forgiveness. “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And in the resurrection, Jesus offers peace. If God dwells in Jesus, then God has nothing to do with violence, but everything to do with love, forgiveness, and peace that comes without having to create victims. That, I think, is how the risen Jesus re-interprets the scriptures to the disciples on the road to Emmaus. That view of Jesus also opens us to his absolute supremacy, beauty, and glory that you talk about.

The podcast with Northwestern Media isn’t working. It says it can’t be found on the server.

I am not much for listening; it’s always easier for me to read something, but based on these comments, it sounds like these audio files are worth a listen!

Refreshing to hear Christ centered teaching! Are you familiar with Joseph Prince, Frank? Your book with Len reminds me a lot of his teaching -bring Jesus back to the center. Live for Christ vs live IN Christ. Anyway, thanks for writing Jesus Manifesto! It’s in my top 3 favorites all time with Destined To Reign and the Bible!

    Blessings!

PK: appreciate the nice comment. Hope you enjoy the talks. The two “Vantage Point” messages are dear to my heart. Glad you gave them a listen.

Can’t wait to listen to it Frank,
I finished reading “From eternity to here”,
So I listened to your podcast, “vantage point” and “from eternity to here”.

Always gets to me. It always comes down to loving Christ and his body more.

Hi Frank. Great discussions regarding the supremacy of Christ as put forth in the Jesus Manifesto. It is so true that Jesus is the missing link in the vision of churches today. I’ve experienced this in past church services where the ‘topic’ was mentioned over and over again yet the name of Jesus was mentioned only once or twice. The awesome magnificence of our Lord isn’t being put forth and that’s disheartening.

I’d like to make just a few additional comments. First, I thought I was the only one who ever STILL used the term ‘blown to smithereens’. That did give me a smile and I apologize that that’s totally off topic. Also, I am disappointed that your FB page is ‘full’, so to speak, and would encourage you to do a FAN page anyway…just disregard the title. I ask this because I belong to two of the groups on Facebook and I don’t get the updates on my page. Bummer. Lastly, you ‘blew to smithereens’ (pun intended) my whole WWJD philosophy! 🙂 Living it out by the indwelling Holy Spirit seems like I would be assuming that my action is indeed of the Holy Spirit. Is it wrong to step back and actually think about what scripture says in a given situation? Just a thought.
